TFNLG Lawsuit Asserts Hazing, Drugs Caused Car Wreck That Killed 3 James Madison University Students
The 77-page lawsuit was filed by two law firms, The Fierberg National Law Group, a Michigan-based organization that specializes in hazing, and Cantor Grana Buckner Bucci, a Richmond-based firm. Fierberg also represented the family of late Virginia Commonwealth University student Adam Oakes, who died in a hazing incident in 2021. His family settled their suit for about $4 million last year.
On Feb. 2, 2023, a car carrying five 19-year-old, male JMU students went off the road and struck a tree. Josh Mardis, a sophomore, was unconscious from a "hazing- and alcohol-fueled rush event" the fraternity held at a West Virginia strip club, the suit claims.
