F is for Failure – Attorney Douglas Fierberg Chimes in on Failure to Warn Students of Druggings at Fraternities

In the early morning hours of January 19th, a police officer in Eugene discovered two female students from the University of Oregon near the intersection of East 19th Avenue and Onyx Street. According to a police spokesperson, the students were in a state of disorientation and it was later revealed that they were under the influence of substances other than alcohol. The officer immediately contacted the boyfriends of the women, who then took them to McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center in Springfield for medical attention. Subsequently, the Eugene police informed the University of Oregon Police Department about the incident. The UOPD report included a statement from the Eugene officer suggesting that the women may have been drugged while attending a fraternity party. Based on all available evidence, it strongly indicates that these students were unknowingly given drugs, commonly referred to as "roofies," which can cause unconsciousness or incapacitation in the victim.
