Wiant, Estate of Collin Lewis vs. Sigma Pi Fraternity and Individual Defendants

Collin wanted to join Sigma Pi, Ohio University’s hardest Fraternity. Even before he started the pledging process, he knew there would be a price. But, Collin wanted the same brotherhood in college that he had with his brothers and high school friends.
The alleged hazing started with doing laundry and store runs. Collin was alo summoned to clean brs and restaurants where members worked, whih made him miss classes and his grades suffer. The Sigma Pi brothers like him so much that they made Collin the pledge president. Eventually, Collin admitted to his brother that the hazing also included being punched and beaten, as well as binge drinking, cocaine, and Adderall.
All he had to do was make it until December, Collin said.
Collin took a small canister filled with nitrous oxide, inhaled, and within seconds was gasping for air. One brother, instead of calling 911 first, called the Chapter President, asking if he should call 911. After speaking the the presiedent, he waited nine minutes to make that call to 911.
Collin died at Athens hospital after 3 a.m. on November 12, 2018.
